Perfect Seared Chicken

We typically buys about two pounds of chicken breasts every week and cooks them all at once. Then we toss them in salads and soup, or with other veggies, and call it a meal. The key is to mix the seasoning blend first, and let the chicken rest in it for about five minutes. When you put the chicken in a hot pan, cook it partially covered and partially uncovered to get the perfect crisp on the outside!

What You’ll Need:

  • 4 tsp onion powder

  • 2 tsp garlic powder

  • 2 tsp mustard powder

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 lb chicken breast or boneless thighs

  • 1 tsp olive oil

What To Do:

  1. First, mix all the spices together in a bowl.

  2. Coat chicken on one side and let rest for about 5 minutes.

  3. Put olive oil in a non-stick skillet and heat to medium high.

  4. Place chicken, seasoning side down, into skillet. Cook uncovered for 2 minutes. While cooking, put the rest of the seasoning on the other side of the chicken.

  5. Flip the chicken. Cook uncovered for 2 minutes. Then cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  6. Voila, perfect protein!
